Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi to arrive on two day visit to A&N Islands on 29th December 2018: To address public at Netaji Stadium on 30th December

Port Blair, Dec 27: The Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi is scheduled to be on a two day visit to the A&N Islands on Dec 29 & 30, 2018. He is likely to arrive here in the evening of the 29th December. The Minister of Communications, Mr. Manoj Sinha is also scheduled to accompany the Prime Minister. The visit of the Prime Minister is part of the 75th anniversary celebration of hoisting of Tricolor by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on Indian soil on 30th December 1943 at Port Blair.
As per the tentative itinerary, the Prime Minister is scheduled to leave for Car Nicobar in the morning of Dec 30, 2018. He may visit the Tsunami Memorial, Car Nicobar and lay wreath, light candle at the Wall of Lost Souls and visit the Museum at Tsunami Memorial. Thereafter, the Prime Minister is likely to interact with Members of Tribal Council. He is also likely to address the public at BJR Stadium, Car Nicobar. The Prime Minister is expected to return to Port Blair in the afternoon.
At Port Blair, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the National Memorial Cellular Jail and lay wreath at Martyrs’ Column. Thereafter, he is scheduled to dedicate the 150 ft. high Flag Mast at South Point, Port Blair. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to pay floral tributes at the statue of Netaji at Marina Park.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to attend a public function at Netaji Stadium on 30th December during which he is expected to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for series of projects for the A&N Islands. The Prime Minister is also likely to release Commemorative Stamp, First Day Cover and Commemorative Coin on the occasion. He may also release the Innovation and Start-Up Policy for the Islands.
The projects expected to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister during the public function at Netaji Stadium include 7MWp Solar Power Plant, Solar Village in South Andaman, Industrial Training Institute, Car Nicobar, State Wide Area Network Project (SWAN) etc. Besides, dedication of Port Meadow and Electric Cars are also scheduled.
The Prime Minister is also likely to lay foundation stones for different projects which include Chennai and Andaman & Nicobar Islands (CANI) Submarine Cable Connectivity Project, 50MW LNG Power Plant at Hope Town, Port Blair, Shore Protection work at Mus Village, Car Nicobar, Upgradation of Campbell Bay Jetty, Great Nicobar Island, Waste to Energy Plasma Regasification Plant, Port Blair, Upgradation of Primary Health Centre to District Hospital, Garacharma, Port Blair and 50 bedded AYUSH Hospital at Junglighat, Port Blair.
People have been invited to attend this public function at Netaji Stadium and requested to reach Netaji Stadium by 2.00 pm on 30th December.
