Scrutiny for Nominations of the Lok Sabha seat in Isles

Port Blair, Mar 26: The scrutiny of all nominations filed by the 19 candidates for the Lok Sabha seat of A & N Islands Parliamentary constituency was taken up on 26.03.2019 at 11.00 AM in the conference hall of District Office, South Andaman by the Returning Officer, Mr. Udit Prakash Rai, IAS, Andaman & Nicobar Parliamentary Constituency in the presence of candidates and their representatives.

The nomination papers and the supporting documents filed by the candidates were taken up for scrutiny as per the laid down guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

After due scrutiny of all nomination papers, three (3) nominations were rejected on the ground and the nomination paper of the main approved candidates were accepted. Rest all the nomination filed by the candidates were found to be in order and the Returning Officer declared 16 candidates as validly nominated candidates.

All the process of scrutiny of the nomination was properly video graphed to maintain transparency.

During the scrutiny of the nomination which started from 11.00 AM to 12.30 PM, the observers appointed by ECI Mr. Partha Sarthi Sen and Mr. Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma were present and witnessed the scrutiny of the nomination process, Returning Officer, Andaman and Nicobar Parliamentary Constituency said in a press release.
