Port Blair, Feb 08: Continuing the efforts to eradicate the menace of illegal sale of Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances from the society, staff of Central Crime Station held one person Aman Hussain, S/o Late Zakir Hussain (60) yrs, R/o Owner of “Only Aman” Garment shop at Aberdeen Bazaar, for carrying banned 49 bottles of codeine based “Phenseryl Cough Linctus co-sealed Chlorpheniramine Maleate & Codeine Phosphate Syrup, Schedule H1 Prescription Drug” without medical prescription for the purpose of sale. The codeine based cough syrup which are not permitted to be sold in local market without prescription from registered medical practitioner. Accordingly, the accused was booked under Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 immediately on the spot.
The raid was conducted on the tip off information comprising team of SI Mohd. Elias, SI M Abdul Rasheed, ASI Surya Narayan and HC Sanjay headed by Insp. Mahesh Yadav, SHO PS CCS under direct supervision of Mr. George Lalu, DySP (CID).
