Executive Committee Meeting of SATB of NGGOA

Port Blair, Oct 14: The Executive Committee meeting of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch (SATB) of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association held on 13.10.2018 at Port Blair expressed serious concern over the non-availability of Heads in a large number of schools in these islands which is hampering the quality of education in government schools. Speaking in the meeting, the General Secretary of the Association, Mr. T.S.Sreekumar said that while many of the schools have shortage of teachers, hundreds of posts under direct recruitment are lying vacant in the department. He also emphasized the need to improve the quality of education in government schools by developing the infrastructural facilities like advanced training facilities for teachers, introduction of modern teaching techniques through Smart Classes etc.
The Vice President of the Branch, Mr. R.D.Yadav welcomed the members while Mr. S.L.Vinjit, Secretary, SATB presented the report on the activities of the branch during the intervening period. The meeting unanimously decided to step up campaign for settlement of various long pending demands of teachers viz. (i) Regularisation of ad-hoc services of teachers from initial date of appointment (ii) Enhancement of Medical Allowance (iii) Review of Teachers’ Welfare Fund (iv) Strict adherence of notified Transfer Policy (v) Grant of Child Care Leave as per the need of lady teachers (vi) Timely settlement of Transfer TA and Medical claims etc. Mr. R.Surendran Pillai, Mr. H.B.Choudhary, Mr. B.Krishna Rao, Mr. Maheswar Rao, Mr. Kishore Kumar also addressed the members.
