Isles Celebrates International Women’s Day with Great Pomp and Show; Witnesses Huge Participation

Port Blair, Mar 10: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a road show was organized by A&N Police on 8th March 2019 to raise awareness amongst people on the issue of women safety and women empowerment. The road show witnessed participation of more than 200 girls from the colleges like JNRM, Tagore College, DBRAIT, Police Training School and various Police Stations.

The road show was flagged off by Director General of Police, Sh. DependraPathak, IPS from the Flag Point and it culminated at Netaji Stadium. The DGP, A&N Police enlightened the gathering with the origin of International Women’s Day and highlighted the role and importance of women in the society. He also said that this day was also Anti-Discrimination and Anti Sexism day and we need to change our thought process in order to change the society.

Later, in the evening, a cultural program was organised at Andaman Club by A&N Police in collaboration with Kala Kendra, Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration, said Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District in a press release.
