South Andaman Police Crack Down Illegal Activities

Port Blair, Mar 11: To fight against the menace of illicit liquor, a special operation was carried out by PS Ograbraj with the assistance of IRBn personnel on 09/03/19. In this operation two police teams were constituted under the supervision of Inspector K. Binoj, SHO PS Ograbraj to conduct jungle raid/search for illicit liquor in PS Ograbraj jurisdiction.

One of this team comprising SI Rangaswamy, HC/974 Taraknath along with IRBn personnel conducted search in Shaithankari, Rubber plantation forest area and recovered 05 drums contains fermented illicit liquor (Lehan).

The other team comprising HC/674 Ram Nag, HC/1277 P. Usman, PC/1343 Nazir Ahmed, PC/1559 Ashok Kumar along with IRBn personnel conducted search in Aniket, Loha gate forest area and recovered 02 drums and 08 tins containing fermented illicit liquor (Lehan). During the operation approximately 1100 litres (Lehan) of fermented illicit liquor was destroyed.

The operation is one of the biggest actions in last four year against the menace of illicit liquor.

On the same day while on night patrolling by SHO PS Bambooflat alongwith police party recovered wooden beams from Burma Jetty, Shore point which were lying in suspicious manner.

On this SI K. Ilangovan, SHO PS Bambooflat and police party conducted search in the nearby area at about 0215 hrs, but no one found at there. The 12 Nos. wooden beams of different size were seized U/s 51/52 Indian Forest Act 1972 under the cover of seizure memo and after observing all codal formalities the seized articles were handed over to forest officials for further necessary action.

The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Shri. Manoj Kumar Meena, SDPO (Bambooflat) under the direction of Shri. Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
