South Andaman Police Cracks Down On Drug Peddling

Port Blair, Sept 06: To curb down the menace of drugs from these Islands, the team of South Andaman Police has once again proved their efficiency to bust down the kingpin and booked the accused under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 with 1.750 Kg of cannabis plants.

On 05.09.2019, on receipt of credible information, a raiding team of Police Station Hutbay comprising SI V.P. Mishra, SHO Hutbay alongwith HC Benjamin Toppo, PCs Biplob Das and A. Ali conducted raid at Chota Balu Jungle, South Bay, Little Andaman and recovered three cannabis plants weighing 1.750 Kg from Sobhan Bairek @ Phaku S/o Late. Ghansukh Bairek (40) yrs R/o Ongi Tekrey, Hutbay, who was cultivating/farming cannabis plants in jungle. The cannabis plants were seized from the spot and accused was arrested.

The entire operation took place with the supervision of SDPO Swaraj Dweep, Shri. Prashant Choudhary, DANIPS and under the direction of Shri. Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The public is requested to pass information related to drugs at 03192-234216 or 100. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
