DEO Nicobars holds meeting with members of Tribal Council

Car Nicobar, Apr 09: Keeping in view the upcoming General Election 2019, a meeting was convened under the Chairmanship of District Election Officer/Deputy Commissioner Nicobars District in the Conference Hall of EOC, Car Nicobar yesterday to discuss about the preparedness of upcoming General Election 2019.

At the outset, the District Election Officer/Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars, Dr. Monica Priyadarshini welcomed the Officers, Tribal Council members and village headmen present in the meeting. DEO Nicobars presented an invitation card to Mr. Lionald Nicomede, Vice Chief Captain, Car Nicobar inviting him to cast vote on polling day and encourage the voters of Car Nicobar to cast their vote on 11.04.2019.

For smooth conduct of election, DEO Nicobars informed the tribal leaders about the timing for casting their votes and appealed voters to cast their votes on the polling day. The DEO also highlighted the provision of separate queue for male and female, queue jumping for PWDs, senior citizens, pregnant ladies and crèche facility for lactating mothers and small children at all polling stations. She also informed that all polling stations are fulfilling Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) guidelines and anganwadi workers, vehicles and wheel chairs will be provided/deployed for the PWDs in all polling stations.

Further, the DEO Nicobars emphasized on mass participation of voters on the day of polling.  Tribal leaders were requested to inform the voters that they can be identified by showing EPIC card or voter’s slip and can carry additional documents like identity cards in case of no EPIC card/voter’s slip at their respective polling stations. For wide publicity of upcoming election 2019 and to create awareness among the people of the Nicobar district, election videos are being telecasted in the local TV channel No. 01 by the local cable operator in Car Nicobar.
