Electricity Dept. warns Cable Operators against the unauthorize usage of electric poles

Port Blair, May 04: Electricity Department, A&N Islands has issued a warning notice to the Cable operators on 04th May 2022 regarding the use of electric poles for stringing and tying their cable TV wires.

It was found that the cable operators are using electric poles for tying clusters of cables with big loops and fixing some boxes on them unauthorizedly and sometimes use the power supply from illegal sources for boosting signals.

Knotting the cables to electricity poles unauthorizedly violates the Indian Electricity Rules and Electricity Act 2003 and also compromises the safety aspect and danger to life on account of haphazardly pulling cable TV wires over electric poles.

Further, cable TV wires/cables tied on electricity poles are causing hindrance and difficulties in various terms to our electricity staffs in carrying out electrical maintenance works on respective electric poles. Moreover, any accident can occur with the cable TV operators who are not at all authorized to climb on the electric poles.

All the firms/persons indulging in such types of illegal use of electric poles are strictly advised to remove all such boards/banners and cable TV cables, etc. with immediate effect.             They are advised to refrain from such activities which in turn violate the respective rules and regulations of GoI. Any loss of appliances and equipment etc. and loss of life due to an accident will not be the responsibility of the Electricity Department. Legal action would be initiated against the persons/firms found using the electric poles unauthorizedly.
