NSUI organized “Tiranga Yatra” to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti

Port Blair, Oct 03: The National Students Union of India, A&N Islands organized a “Tiranga Yatra” on Saturday with it’s members carrying a 100-foot-long tricolor to commemorate the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to celebrate 75 years India’s Independence with the aim to redeem Gandhism and Gandhi’s India.

Hundreds of NSUI members and students from various colleges participated in the yatra starting from Congress Office to Gandhi Statue, Aberdeen Bazaar and inversely back to Congress Office. All throughout the tiranga yatra they raised patriotic slogans and waived flags of NSUI.

The Yatra was led by PCC President Shri. Rangalal Halder, PCC Campaign Committe Chairman Shri. TSG Bhasker, NSUI National Secretary Miss. Mamatha Nerlige and NSUI State President Shri. M.A Sajid.

Addressing the Rally, Shri. Halder said “Bapuji was not a political personality, rather he was a great saint and social reformer. He had kept the whole country united with his mesmerizing personality. He was indeed the true symbol of all caste, creed, language, religion and national integration”.

Miss. Nerlige said “The Congress party’s foundation was laid on the ideology of unity in diversity. The father of the nation showed us the way to live harmoniously and NSUI will never dilute it’s core ideology at any cost”. She called upon the NSUI members to spread the message of unity. She added that NSUI will not allow any party divide the country on communal lines.

NSUI State Vice President’s Shri. Nishit Biswas, Shri. V. Maheshwaran, Shri. Rajeev Rao, Shri. R. Plato along with NSUI State General Secretarie’s Shri. Vishal Din, Shri. Anick Das, Shri. Saurav Nair and several other NSUI functionaries took part in the yatra.
