India Reserve Battalion’s SVEEP initiatives ahead of Elections

Port Blair, Apr 12: The Andaman and Nicobar Police Department has taken a proactive step towards promoting electoral participation and environmental stewardship through a series of engaging events under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In line with our commitment to fostering community involvement and civic responsibility, the IRBn, A&N Police organized several activities aimed at fostering electoral awareness, unity, and environmental consciousness among citizens. The events included:

Bullet Rally: On 03-04-2024, a Bullet Rally was flagged off from IRBn(HQ), Port Mout, which roared through the streets, captivating the attention of onlookers and driving home the message of voter empowerment. A total of 100 participants from A&N Police rode on 50 bullets for about 75 Kms, culminating at Wandoor village. They wore vibrant electoral insignia t-shirts and held banners, parading through the villages, engaging communities, and amplifying the importance of every citizen’s vote in shaping the nation’s future.

Beach Cleaning Drive: On 10-04-2024, emphasizing the vital connection between environmental guardianship and democratic participation, the A&N Police spearheaded a cleaning drive at Carbyn’s Cove beach. A total of 103 volunteers of IRBn participated in the cleaning and removed the plastic waste and debris. At the end of the event, an informative skit on raising voters’ awareness, aligning with the theme of “Chunaav ka Parv Deshka Garv,” was displayed for the general public as well.

Fitness Run: On 11-04-2024, a vibrant 5 km fitness run from village Tushnabad to Port Mout was organized, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups, including civilians & police personnel. A total of 158 participants traversed scenic routes, symbolizing the journey towards a stronger democracy through active participation in the electoral process. The event served as a platform for promoting voter awareness and fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants.

Under the able guidance of Mr.Devesh Chandra Srivatsava, DGP, ANI, and under the supervision of Ms. Sindhu Pillai A, IPS, IGP, ANI, Ms. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, DIGP(IRBn) & Ms. Shweta K Sugathan, Superintendent of Police/Commandant(IRBn), these events underscore A&N Police’s unwavering commitment to promoting electoral literacy, fostering community engagement, and safeguarding our environment. As the nation gears up for the 2024 elections, the A&N Police remains steadfast in its mission to empower citizens and uphold the democratic ethos.
