Returning Officer, ANIPC Carries Out Night Inspections of Flying Squads and Surveillance Team

Port Blair, Apr 16: Conduct of elections involves various activities to be carried out over a long time frame of many months and the office of the Returning Officer, A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency along with the Police Department and other line departments executes this task with utmost precision. 

            However, the last 72 hours prior to poll day, which includes the last day of campaign period, non-campaign period (last 48 hours) and poll period are very critical in election management. Timely and meticulous advance planning, rigorous implementation and close supervision under competent authority is essential to ensure the conduct of free, fair and peaceful elections. 

Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Returning Officer, ANIPC along with Mrs. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police (District) inspected various locations in the city, VST teams, FST teams and check points to ascertain the implementation of Model Code of Conduct. It is imperative that the election functionaries at the District level are fully aware of the multifarious important activities and steps required to be undertaken during this crucial period and are thoroughly preparing to execute them as per the directions of the Commission.

The Returning Officer, ANIPC has issued strict instructions to all the teams to intensify checking as only 3 days (72 hours) are remaining for the General Elections-2024 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
