Port Blair, May 05: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration to direct the concerned agencies to take concrete measures to repair both the DG sets of Katchal Power House and also to supply sufficient quantities of petrol to Katchal Island.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary the Member of Parliament pointed out that in Katchal Island there are two DG sets out of which one is already nonfunctional and the other has also some issues.
The Member of Parliament added that the Chief Captain of Katchal Island has informed him that the load-shedding has already started in Katchal Island and in coming days if some concrete steps are not taken then the Island may witness total blackouts.
He also pointed out that the Katchal Island is presently facing a petrol crisis and two-wheeler owners are being given nearly one liter of petrol every alternative day as according to him the Katchal ANIIDCO fuel outlet has petrol left for only one week.
